Spring is finally here!  It’s that time of year for fresh beginnings – flowers start to bloom,
the days grow warmer, and everything feels renewed. In the world of real estate, spring
is one of the busiest times of the year.

“frost” and fall in love with your space again, a deep clean and rejuvenation is just the

The “Visual Weight” Audit

Winter typically leaves our homes feeling heavy and layered with thick blankets, dark
pillows, blackout curtains, bulky rugs, and deep color palettes. On the other hand, the
season of spring is the perfect time to replace those heavy textures with airy linens, soft
cottons, and lighter color palettes.

Before storing away your winter décor, take the time to perform a “visual weight” audit of
your home. Ask yourself:

1. Does this item still serve a purpose?
2. Does it add beauty or function to my space?
3. Would someone else benefit from it more?

Answering ‘No’ to either of the first two questions above?  Consider donating your gently used items.  For those items that no longer serve a purpose in your space and can’t be donated, properly dispose of them.

If your response is “yes” to the first two questions above, store them away. As you pack
away winter items, clean them before storing them. The “future you” will thank you
when everything is fresh, organized, and ready for immediate use next season.

Now is the perfect time to practice the 50% Rule:

  counters, tables, and other surfaces.

The “Sparkle & Shine” Deep Clean

Before you can stage, you must shine! Buyers and guests can notice the details, and a
true deep clean can completely transform the look and feel of your home.

Depending on the size of your space, this process may take several hours – or even a
full weekend – but the results are worth it. Take the time to thoroughly dust and wipe
everything down, focusing on the forgotten areas.

This is the time to:

• Dust thoroughly
• Wipe down walls
• Clean baseboards
• Sanitize high-touch surfaces
• Vacuum vents and corners
• Deep clean carpets and rugs

For hardwood floors and walls (Yes, your walls need cleaning too!), a microfiber mop works wonders for gentle but effective cleaning. One of my favorite tools is a reusable
microfiber mop because it’s lightweight, versatile, and safe for most surfaces. The
